Henchmen Case Study

England Rugby Team Scores More Than a Tri!

Henchman is the UK market leader in safety ladders with its products in use by several royal households, national trust properties, country estates and thousands of gardeners and landscaping professionals.

In 2017, Henchman appointed LJPR to deliver national press office support. Launched in 1994, with an established reputation for design and safety, we were excited to be given the opportunity to get under the skin of this iconic brand and its heritage, in order to become a meaningful extension of their marketing team and to deliver relevant PR.

An ongoing and exciting part of our role is to deliver fast-paced response to, often short journalistic deadlines, and to stay ahead of trends and sector opportunities for Henchman.

Following a proactive approach, a Henchman 8ft tripod safety ladder was gifted to the England Rugby team, after training footage appeared during the Six Nations of the team using a wobbly traditional step ladder. The Henchman tripod was such a hit, it was taken to Japan.

Hailed as the England rugby team’s ‘special weapon’ during the 2019 Rugby World Cup, the forwards used a tripod ladder for line-out training and pictures of the tripod in action were all over the national  media as England won through to the final.

National coverage was secured in The Sun, Telegraph, Daily Mail, Daily Star and BBC Wiltshire to name a few. We reached over 200 million and received 274 social shares.
